We would like to thank the illustrator Lucio Bouvier for participating in our project by producing this illustration of Salvador.

Lucio Bouvier is an illustrator and Brazilian designer. He has been reading children's books for about 20 years.

At present he has illustrated nearly 40 books at many publishers; Editora Abril, Editora Ática, Editora do Brasil, Editora Moderna, Editora Saraiva ...

Illustrations in various styles ranging from gouache, watercolor, ink, pencils, graphite, oil, acrylic, airbrush, to digital artwork for the most recent work.

In this illustration Lucio Bouvier describes the dominant black culture in Salvador. We can indeed notice through the landscape and the traditional costume of the Bahian the mixture of religions (Catholicism, indigenous rites and African beliefs), architecture (renaissance, art deco, favelas).

The sea is omnipresent. The whole Afro-Brazilian community is found around the goddess afro Lemanja, protector of fishermen, deity of the seas. A religious entity which dominates the sea, according to the religions of black origin (Umbanda, Candomblé, Quimbanda ...)
